Discovering Art History with Sister Wendy
On Zoom. Wednesday August 14 2024
4 to 6 pm est $35CAD/$25USD
You likely remember Sister Wendy, the sweet, toothy nun and art historian who became an unlikely celebrity with popular art museum programming. If you haven't thought about her since the '90s, join us to rediscover this wonderfully influential personality who brought art to life and made it accessible to the masses. We'll get to know a bit about her biography and life story, follow her to a few museums, and view some of her favourite artworks. We'll look at her legacy of television shows, meditations, and coffee table books. Sister Wendy was an extraordinary bridge, empowering everyday people to experience art in their own way. She had an incredible range of interests and appreciation, from ancient religious art, to modern art to art of the world. She was and is a huge inspiration to the founding editor of The Ekphrastic Review, because Sister Wendy's life was an invitation into art, for everyone.
